Pactoria is a server of nations and towns. Nations are a collections of players. A town is a protected piece of land for only you and your comrades. To create a town, you must first found a nation, your nation serves as your official identity. Under your nation, you can establish only one town, if you wish for you nation to be part of another you must pledge loyalty through a system called fealty.

Nations

Founding a new nation

  1. Open chat and enter the commands below.
  2. Type: /nation found <insert the town name you want> e.g. /nation found My Nation
  3. Press enter. A nation will be created for you.

You can change the nation name using /nation rename <old name> <new name>

A player can be a member of multiple nations, but they can only be the leader of one.

Adding players

Your nation needs citizens and right now it's just you. Invite more in by:

  1. Type: /nation invite <the nation> <player's name>.
Pro-tip: You can hit Tab to autocomplete.
  2. An invitation will be sent to them in chat.
  3. They need to click [Accept].

To get info on your nation use: /nation

Removing players

  • To leave your nation: /nation leave <nation name>
  • To kick a player out of the nation: /nation kick <nation name> <player's name>
  • To rename your nation: /nation rename <old name> <new name>

Setting a nation banner

You should make a banner to represent you nation, it will appear on your guard towers and on the website.

  • Make a banner in-game.
  • Hold it in your main hand.
  • Type: /nation set-banner <nation-name>

Nation Coffers

Nations have a bank account referred to as coffers which are used to pay for land (plots), guard towers, warcamps, and taxes. You earn coffer money by completing Town Item Quests which you can find by right-clicking the Nexus in your town.

Use the /nation command to see how much money your nation has in the coffers.

Note: It against the rules to betray your nation, for example: stealing all the diamonds then leaving the nation.

Currently we do not permit moving money between nations.

Nation Taxes

Every 24 hours, the server will deduct taxes from your nation coffers, the amount of tax is calculated as a percent of your nation's total plot value.
The current tax rate is 1% of all your nation's plot prices. It is important that your nation have enough money in the coffers to cover the taxes.
If you are unable to pay the taxes, the server will block you from your own town and slowly sell your plots until all debts are paid off.

Note that even nations with no towns will still have a small amount of tax.

Use /nation tax to see what your tax info is.

Nation Alignment

A nation can mark another nation as either: Friendly, Hostile or Neural. This will change the color of their name tags in the tab list.
If two nations both set each other to friendly, they have a 'two way alliance' which has some implications for Sieges.

Alliance status has implications for Guards and Sieges, you can read more in the Siege Help Guide.

Nametag colors:

  • Green - Member of the same nation as you.
  • Blue - Marked as friendly by your nation.
  • Yellow - Neutral nation member
  • White - Not in any nation.
  • Red - Marked as hostile by your nation.
  • Purple - Marked as hostile & friendly by your nation. This can happen if you or the other player is a member of multiple nations.

Nation Fealty

A nation can declare itself loyal to another nation. This allows a collection of smaller nations to combine to form a larger federation.

The leader nation must invite the other nations to join using /nation fealty invite LeaderNation OtherNation

The other nation must then accept it using /nation fealty accept OtherNation LeaderNation

Once a nation has declared fealty, it will show as the leader nation on the map.

Nation Permissions & Groups

You can assign permissions to the citizens of your nation.

Use /nation group MyNationName to see a list of the groups. You can click the text in chat for more details.

To add a player to a the SubLeader group, use /nation group add-player MyNationName SubLeader SomeOtherPlayer. This will give them permissions to buy land, invite others, etc. You can even set a time limit by adding the number of hours they should be in the group for at the end of the command.

You can remove them from a group using use /nation group remove-player MyNationName SubLeader SomeOtherPlayer.
Players can be members of multiple groups. You can even add players who are not members of the nation.

To add a new group use /nation group create MyNation Founder Lords. This will make a new group named Lords that sits under the founder group.

The “SUB_GROUP” permissions allow members with the permission to edit the groups under them. But a player can never assign someone a permission that they do not have themselves and players cannot edit permissions of their own group. Members of the found group can always edit their own permissions.

It is important that you setup a chain of command in case the founder becomes inactive or banned. Please ensure that someone else can manage the nation.

You can also add foreign players to group using /nation group add-foreign-player MyNationName Trusted SomeOtherPlayer. This is useful for making embassies using the zone system.

Towns

A town is a place on the map that is owned by a nation. Every town has a Nexus Pad that is used for sieges and for doing Town Item Quests.

Once you have created a nation you can then found your town.

Town Limit

Currently we only allow a single town per nation. This is done because of how town annexation works and we are working to fix it.

If you need a separate town, you must found a separate nation and have it declare fealty to the first nation.

You can then use /town nation-access MyNewTown build OtherTrustedNation to give the other nation build access to the new town.

To found a town

  • Find a spot for your town, use /town found to see if the location is available.
  • Make sure you stand in a clear a 9x9x9 space for the nexus pad that is above Y=0.
  • Collect 100 gold ingots and have them in your inventory.
  • Type run the command in chat /town found YourNation <insert the town name you want>
  • A town and Nexus pad will be created around you. You can move it using /nexus move

Setting Town Spawn

You must set a default spawn location for your town members this must be a safe clear location that is at least 40 block away from the nexus pad.

Use /town default-spawn set to set the spawn to the location you are standing.

Expanding your town

Your town will have plots of land already claimed for you. A plot is a 16 x 16 block tract of land that belongs to your town.

This can be done in game but we recommend using the online nation manager.

To claim more next your existing plots:

  1. Walk to unclaimed plot that is just outside your town.
  2. Run /plot it will show you the cost to buy the plot. You can view your nations coffer money using /nation
  3. Run /plot buy to buy the plot.
  4. Repeat above for other plots.

The size of your town is limited by how much money the nation has to but them with. You can also sell plots using /plot sell

To earn nation coffer money you must do the Town Item Quests.

Town Silos

Every hour the silo barrels will be refilled with an assortment of items some of which can only be obtained from Silos. Some items may only spawn for specific towns you may need to trade with other nations to get the items you need.

Town Item Quests

Right click the spawner on the Nexus Pad. It will show an inventory with some items that you need to collect. Your town will earn nation coffer money and town XP by doing them.

Your town will be assigned a set of item objectives which will be things like "Collect 64 Carrots" When you collect the required items and give them to the Nexus, your will be rewarded with both coffer money and town levels.

The quests will reset every 11 hours. The number of quests scales with the active player count of your nation.

Pressure Pads

In towns stone pressure pads can only be triggered by players, not mobs. If a stone pressure pad or stone button is placed on colored concrete it will only activate depending on the player's allegiance.

  • Lime - Only nation members
  • Light Blue - Nation members and nations marked as Friendly
  • Yellow - Neutral nations or players not in a nation
  • Red - Nations marked as Hostile.
  • Orange - Nations marked as Hostile or Neutral or players not in a nation
  • Green - Normally only nation members, but during a Siege it will allow any player who is on the defending team.
  • Brown - Only activates if the player has an empty inventory

It is a good idea to use the Lime Concrete to protect all the doors around your base. You could also make traps that are only triggered by hostile/neutral players. This can be a good way to detect invisible enemies.

Zones

Towns can create zones, these are used to control access to certain areas of your town. For example, you may want to set a zone to restrict your vault to only trusted citizens.

You can also use zones to give non citizens build access so they can have an embassy or shop in your town.

A zone is defined using a gold axe by left-clicking in one corner of the zone, and then right-clicking in the opposite corner to form a cube. Make sure to include the walls, floor, roof, and door of the room.
Then use /town zone create myCoolZone to create the zone, you will be asked to confirm and select what group will be the admins of the zone. You must have the MANAGE_ZONES nation permission to create zones.

You can attach a zone to multiple groups with different levels of access. In the example below trusted players can break blocks, but recruits can only interact (open doors).

Use /town zone to list all zones. Then /town zone info myCoolZone for details.

You can then set access to the zone either per player or per group. /town zone set-player-access MyTown MyCoolZone build Notch will give the player Notch build permissions in the zone. /town zone set-group-access MyTown MyCoolZone interact Trusted will give anyone in the Trusted group interact permissions in the zone.

Managers are players who can edit the zone because they hold the MANAGE_ZONES permission in any of the parent groups above any of the admin groups. In this case, Macus17 is in the Founder group which has the MANAGE_ZONES permission and is the parent of the Trusted group, which has admin access to the zone.

It is possible to add foreign players to groups, so you can give Notch access to your zone for 2 hours using /nation group add-foreign-player Trusted Notch 2

Right click a block with a feather to see what zones are applied and who can access it.

You can use /town zone expand MyCoolZone 23 N to expand a zone 23 blocks northward.

Pistons cannot move blocks between zones.

Weak and Strong zones

If two strong zones overlap, you need access to both. But if a weak zone overlaps with a strong zone you only need access to the strong zone.

Consider an apartment building for citizens, you could put a weak zone around the whole building. Then assign each room a strong zone that permits the individual player build access to just their room. The weak zone prevents building outside the rooms but the strong zones will overrule the weak zones inside the rooms.

You can use the command /town zone type MyTown myCoolZone weak to change myCoolZone to a weak zone.
